From 8 years old you can Join SunCityTri. You will need your parents or carers to help you join – all the details are here All we ask is that you can swim 50m none stop as we are coaches, not swimming teachers.
Your parent will need to complete a consent form and read through the code of conduct – both are available on the joining page.
Our Club has been accredited with “Tri-Mark” Bronze, which means the club is doing everything it can to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our children. It has a trained welfare officer, a code of conduct, a constitution and has adopted a safeguarding policy. Our Child specific coaches have enhanced DBS clearance, and we encourage positive risk taking in a safe environment.
Our club includes everyone, you do not need to be an athlete, cyclist, good runner or swimmer. Everyone has their own target, we have GB team members and we have people who just want to finish a short tri – they all get the same coaching and respect.

There are many things we do and our coached sessions are the best place to start:
Saturday Junior Session at Monkwearmouth School
The junior sessions run from 10-12, you can be part of it or all of it
Swim at 10-11 Run or bike 11.15-12. Weather permitting, in the winter we do some strength and conditioning in the gym.
Thursday Junior swim session at Monkwearmouth School – 6-7
Its always good to take a drink/Snack (Banana/ flap jack etc.) for after swimming and after running / bike.
For winter months you will need:
Warm Long Sleeved Top/ Tops
Waterproof/ wind cheater (just in case)
Tracksuit Bottoms/Leggings (No bare skin at this time of year please)
Remember, you’re better off with more than less as you can always remove a layer or two if you get too warm.
There’s no pressure to compete but its great to get involved, and there are events for your age group. Here’s some of our lot doing an out door event, although most are in a swimming pool.
As you can see, there’s no need for a fancy bike – and even if your last there’s a great cheer as its a great achievement
Other things the Juniors can enjoy are our other sessions – here’s a video of adults and Juniors doing a run session at seaburn – this has now moved indoor at Boldon community center
Juniors can also come along and do other local things we do such as the parkrun series.
There are other sessions that take place, such as bike skills and members will get plenty notice when they are taking place.
As a club we are members of British Triathlon and this sets the standards of good practice. All our coaches hold appropriate qualifications, pool activities have coaches and lifeguards. Those who do have regular contact with Juniors have been cleared by the DBS (formerly CRB) to do so.
